Are your products 100% natural?
We combine the best of nature and advanced science in the development of our products. We use as many ingredients of natural origin as possible, ensuring they are sourced sustainably and keeping in mind their conservation as natural resources. We only use alternatives that have been developed in a lab when it is necessary for product safety, when it is better for the environment, or for properties that cannot be derived from nature.
Are your products tested on animals?
Rituals Cosmetics is against animal testing and has been since we were founded in 2000. We have never tested any of our individual ingredients or finished products on animals and we do not work with suppliers that do so. Instead, we enlist the help of enthusiastic volunteers, independent dermatologists and safety institutions to ensure our products fully meet the required regulations.
What is Rituals’ most ambitious sustainability goal?
During Earth Week we announced our goal of growing 5 million trees globally by the end of 2022. For every refill we sell, we will grow a tree in collaboration with our partners.
Our eco-friendly refill products have always been a smart choice; they are cost effective and reduce waste, and now they also contribute to a more sustainable future through reforestation!
How does Rituals promote diversity and inclusion?
Diversity and inclusion are deeply rooted within our DNA and lie at the heart of who we aspire to be at Rituals. Since our founding, we have celebrated the world's diverse beauty and have aimed to constantly reflect this in diversifying our company and creating an inclusive environment. Within this, we focus on our employees, the brand, our products, and our societal impact.
We believe that in order to create a meaningful contribution to society, our organisation should reflect the diversity of that society by actively practicing - not just preaching – inclusivity. Moreover, in order to appeal to broader international markets, we aim to represent different groups and individuals with unique, visible or invisible, conditions, strengths and challenges. We take pride in creating a safe culture in which all employees feel engaged, appreciated, and have access to the same opportunities.
We have a Diversity & Inclusion Ambassador Group that supports, flags, and sets up programmes to support our culture, for example by organising unconscious bias training. As a company we are constantly learning and improving and therefore greatly value the input from our customers.
How does Rituals contribute to a better planet?
Sustainability is very important to us. We care just as much about your personal wellbeing as we do about the planet. By caring for both with passion, we believe that we can make steps towards a more sustainable future. We’re determined to minimise our impact on the environment and to make responsible choices that have a positive effect on the world.
We operate based on three pillars: Clean, Conscious, and Caring. This means all our products are responsibly sourced, cleanly formulated and dermatologically tested, and we make conscious choices for our packaging and inspire consumers to live soulfully.
Are your products vegan?
Most of our products are vegan-friendly as they have not been developed with any animal-derived ingredients. The full ingredient list can be found on the packaging of each product as well as on our website. Please do not hesitate to contact us to ask if a specific product or ingredient is vegan-friendly. We will be happy to check it for you.
Do you support charities?
We do not take our success for granted and are very thankful for all the privileges it has provided us with. We believe it is very important to give back, by supporting and developing social projects that share the same philosophy as our company.
Rituals has been a proud supporter of the Tiny Miracles Foundation since 2011. We are inspired by their holistic approach to breaking the poverty cycle by creating fully self-supporting communities within 10 years.
Rituals also started the Super Chill foundation in collaboration with De Nieuwe Yogaschool. Our Super Chill App offers classroom yoga and mindfulness exercises to help children deal with feelings, emotions, energy levels, and focus, while boosting creativity and self-reflection.
